One of the fastest growing communities in Northern California is the Salsero Community. I am extremely happy to be apart of this process since my arrival in Sacramento in 1986.
Growing up in the Francisco Clark neighborhood of Panama, friendship and salsa music went hand-in-hand. I never took the time to learn an instrument, but my knowledge for musicians and Afro-Latin genresĀ grew rapidly. In the 1970’s, when the mix of Afro-Caribbean rhythms and Latin rhythms were united it was given the name SALSA. I was just a kid, but this new mix of instruments and rhythms started to grow inside of me. In 1981 at age 14, I got my first job as a professional DJ in Panama for La Exitosa Radio. Since then I have been involved in the world of Salsa Music.
I feel honored to be helping Zocalo to develop more Salsa in Sacramento. I love to interact with our customer and friends. Come and see Oscar Castaneda and myself every Tuesday.
See you on the dance floor!!!
